Sec 2008: 1 star
Demi-sec 2008: 1 star
Jean-Marc Gilet manages 17 ha of well-exposed parcels on the slopes of Parçay-Meslay. Producing “wines with soul and pleasure, born from perpetual effort and straight from the heart”, that is his philosophy. This vintage was matured on fine lees for eight months. The result is a wonderful aromatic complexity combining pear, plum white peach and fern. On the palate, the attack is powerful, round and mellow, then the intensity kicks in to support this harmonious wine, which is “joyful and lively” according to the wine-tasters. They also much appreciated the sec 2008, which was awarded a star for its balance between freshness and smoothness and its citrus fruit and white blossoms aromas.

Sec 2007: Special mention
Jean-Marc Gilet, located in Parcay-Meslay in the North-West of the appellation, runs a domain of 17 ha of vines distributed over different terroirs. He is committed to vinifying each parcel separately. This Vouvray, produced from a harvest that matured on a calcareous clay soil, is well composed, but is still closed. Quite powerful, it has a fruity dominant combined with a touch of forest scents (20% aging in barrels).

Demi-Sec 2006: 1 star
Sec 2006: Special Mention
The Gilet family have been wine-growers for five generations at La Rouletière. In 2003, Jean-Marc took over the 17 ha domain, home to cellars of 600 m in depth. A wonderful resource for the Vouvrays that mature rather than age, such as this Brut. The golden yellow robe allows the fine bubbles to rise, while the floral aromas remain discreet. On the attack, a flattering roundness does not spoil the balance; the demi-sec 2006 also was awarded a star and the sec 2006 earned a special mention.
